Interesting Food Facts about Cheese Ball Cheese is a generic term for a diverse group of milk-based food products. Cheese is produced throughout the world in wide-ranging flavors, textures, and forms.  There are over 2000 varieties. Cheddar cheese is dyed orange to give it an appealing color.  White cheddar is closer to its natural color. Cheese is one of the oldest foods in history, dating back 4000 years to the ancient Egyptians. Cheese takes up about 1/10 the volume of the milk it was made from. The terms “Big Wheel” and “Big Cheese” originally referred to those who were wealthy enough to purchase a whole wheel of cheese. Fun Fact: The term “cheese ball” can also refer to the puffed air orange snack that can be purchased in the snack aisle. The earliest mention was found in a 1944 cookbook called “Food of My Friends”. The recipe came from a Minnesota housewife. A “cheeseball” also refers to someone trying to be funny or corny. #stayhealthy✌ #stayfit๐Ÿ’ช #stayfoo

Interesting Food Facts about Grilled Cheese Sandwich Grilled cheese sandwiches originally showed up in America during the roaring 20’s. It is said that grilled cheese was first served as an open-face sandwich. A grilled cheese sandwich is often accompanied by tomato soup, a southern delicacy! Grilled cheese sandwiches can be served with bacon , tomato, and various other additions.  It makes the meal much more filling. April is national grilled cheese sandwich month.  Be sure to celebrate heartily! Fun Fact: Today’s notion of the grilled cheese is commonly traced back to the 1920s, when the Iowa man considered “the father of sliced bread” invented a bread slicer that made distributing white bread easy and affordable. In 2004, the online casino GoldenPalace.com paid $28,000 for a half-eaten grilled cheese with the likeness of the Virgin Mary depicted in the “burn” pattern. Invention .......

WHO INVENTED THE DAL MAKHANI? What does gold have to do with food? Well, I am writing about the black dal - yes humble black urad whole lentil whose avatar, the makhani dal, was invented by none other than Kundan Lal Gujral, the founder of the Moti Mahal chain. He revolutionized the way dal was cooked, making it a household name, placing the humble dal on the world culinary map. The idea was triggered off when he invented the famous makhani gravy just to be able to serve the drying chicken tikkas by the tandoor waiting to be ordered but would sometimes dry out in the absence of a refrigerator in the good old days. He would just simmer those tikkas in this tomato gravy he invented, which gave birth to the much fabled butter chicken and the dal makhani. Recently there was a debate upon who invented the dal makhani alias Moti Mahal dal. As some remarked, the history of food is a very contentious subject. There is no final view about anything since no one left any wr

The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of  fermented   black lentils  (de-husked) and  rice . The fermentation process breaks down the starches so that they are more readily metabolized by the body. Idli has several variations, including  rava idli , which is made from  semolina . Regional variants include  sanna  of  Konkan  and  Enduri Pitha  of Odisha.

So here's some unknown facts about this dish which u may not know. HISTORY --- ORIGIN   What Rosogulla is to Kolkata, Dal Baati Churma is to Rajasthan. You can’t visit the place and not have baati . Synonymous to Rajasthan, this rustic globe of baked deliciousness is revered as much for its simplicity ( c’mon they really are balls of dough) as for its unforgettable taste. And yet when it comes to tracing the story behind this culinary masterpiece – the dish is a meal in itself — there is near to nothing available, except for Ibn Batuta’s mention of sun baked wheat chunks as early as the Magadha Empire, during which time grains like wheat, jowar , bajra and other millets were common and a part of the meal.
